Support for Game engines Construct 2 & Construct 3#103

I would love to use river with the Game engines Construct 2 & Construct 3, at the moment they support only “Spriter” and this will be an awesome addition as it has bones deformation
Thank you

We’re probably not going to be implementing new runtimes for the next few months as we’re focusing on getting to an open beta with our current ones.

That said, we agree there’s a great opportunity with this. Our runtimes are all open-source, so it should be feasible for someone with the right knowhow and appetite to implement our web runtime with this. Do you know anyone at Construct? We’d be happy to chat.

Interesting work! I did a quick and dirty JS integration into C3 using the JS/WASM runtime and rendering to a separate 2D canvas from the C3 Webgl canvas. I then transfer from 2D canvas to C3 webgl via texSubImage2D(). Of course that transfer takes some time, so it works, but is not efficient. Perhaps in the future could get better if there was a webgl Rive runtime version or if someone does a full C3 SDK integration (which would require a fair amount of work perhaps using C3 Quad, Mesh points and managing textures, etc.)

This is super cool! A WebGL renderer is planned however it’s still a little ways away as a game engine optimized renderer is quite different from one for a website/app (we’d want to optimize for performance vs quality in many scenarios). We have some ideas, if you or anyone you know is interested in pursuing this personally, please reach out to us as we’d like to support you!
